Silver City And Aztec Lead The Way On New Mexico All-State Squad

Silver City won its first-ever 4A New Mexico State Football Championship last month beating Aztec 27-20, to snap the school's streak of seven straight runner-up finishes. Over the weekend, four players who helped the Colts finish as the best in the state were honored by being named first team All-State.

Actually Silver City held down five positions on the first team thanks to Jake Morales, who was honored for his play on both sides of the ball. Morales was named as a wide receiver and a defensive back. Bayard Roberts of St. Pius was also a standout two-way performer.
